The Bush Taxi
Gorom-Gorom, Burkina Faso, 2006
This photo captures daily life in many parts of West Africa. In the middle of the picture you'll find a bush taxi that's kept in place by large rocks stuffed under the wheels (the parking brake long since broken). The taxi is typically overstuffed with layers upon layers of patient passengers dressed in colorful clothes and lively cargo. Note someone's live chickens dangling upside down along one side and the basket of eggs stuffed between bodies in the back.
Where's the driver you ask? He's underneith the truck making repairs. Outside - street vendors, curious bystanders, and passersby.
