Camel Trek
Chinguetti, Mauritania, 2006
A camel herder guiding a camel across the Sahara desert near Chinguetti, Mauritania. We named this camel Lumpy due to the large growth on his neck. Lumpy was one of four camels we took on a multi-day desert trek in May 2006. To be clear, May is not the ideal time for camel trekking. With daytime temps topping 110 degrees and flies aplenty, it was an excercise in suffering. Beautiful? Yes. Worthwhile? Definitely. Recommended? No. Try winter instead.
