Sacred Forest
Sintra, Portugal, 2006
This photo was taken on a foggy day in March 2006 at Convent of the Capuchos. Convent of the Capuchos feels like a hobbit hole. Located in the Sintra Mountains, high atop a winding road that leads through mist shrouded forest, the tiny convent blends into the landscape. It's like stepping into a Tolken book.
The reason for it's uniqueness? Built in 1560, it housed a small group of monks that chose to live in cramped spaces as a form of pentance. It's a facinating places that inspires photography.
