Into the Sahara
Sahara Desert, Mauritania, 2006
A portrait of Betty, our 80 Series Land Cruiser, taken in the Mauritanian Sahara. This photo was taken in May south of Nouadhibou where the Sahara meets the Atlantic ocean. It's a beautiful place where a seemingly endless sea of sand disappears into the Atlantic's blue abyss. With temperatures approaching 120 degrees it was a hot, buggy, and generally inhospitable time for desert travel. Conditions that had our minds aflutter with 'what-if's' and our hands washing dishes with sand rather than water. One of our first true adventures on our trans-Africa trip.
