Mont Saint-Michel
Normandy, France, 2006
Mont Saint-Michel's iconic 8th century abbey in Normandy, France. At night, Mont Saint-Michel is particularly pictureque. The abbey is lit up and, if lucky, it's twinkling reflection is imprinted on the moat-like waters separating the island from Normandy's coast.
This photo was taken at twighlight, shortly after the tide returned, and before the sky went completely black. An hour earlier, Mont Saint-Michel wore a different venir. Illuminted by the late afternoon sun, the Abbey's lights were yet to be switched on, the sky was light blue, and Mont Saint-Michel's reflection was cast on muddy ground. Always beautiful, Mont Saint-Michel's magic is most powerful at night.
