Orphaned Gorilla

Lefini Reserve, Republic of Congo, 2006

Bangha, a 15 year old solitary male western gorilla, in Lefini Reserve, Republic of Congo. As a baby, Bangha was orphaned by the bush meat trade and sold into the illegal pet market before being rescued by The Aspinall Foundation, a wildlife conservation group operating in Congo and Gabon. At the time of his rescue, Bangha was 4 months old.
