Tree Boa

Yupukari, Guyana, 2017

This is one of four tree boas we found hunting small mammals, birds, and other prey along the Rupununi River. To capture this photo we hired a boat and local guide at Caiman House Field Station in Yupukari. Traveling at night, we used a spotlight to locate the boas in the trees along the river. Once spotted, we would maneuver the boat under the overhanging branches so that the snakes were just above our heads. An excellent wildlife viewing experience in Guyana.
