We continue to enjoy exploring Truckee and the surrounding area as we wait to head back to our Troopy in Argentina. We take our first overnight trip since we got here to the Nevada Desert with our friends, Christian and Persephone.
We first met them at an Overland Expo 11 years ago, where they invited us over to their VW Westfalia Syncro for sundowners. Ever since then we've been fascinated by this van. So when they invited us to join them in their newly renovated VW Syncro for a mini overland trip into the Nevada Desert, it was a no brainer. The mission: An off-road adventure from Truckee, CA in search of a little known spot called Cocaine Flats. The question: Can a 31-year-old VW bus with 334,000 miles make the journey?
